Getting to Know Mrs. McLaughlin
My name is Connie McLaughlin, and I am very excited to teach at Sweet Apple this coming year! I have taught second grade at Sweet Apple Elementary since January 2013. Prior to teaching at Sweet Apple, I was a fourth grade teacher for 11 1/2 years in central Illinois, and I also taught preschool for one year.
I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and I received my Master's Degree from the same university. I was born in Dearborn, Michigan, but we moved to central Illinois when I was four years old. Needless to say, my memories of Michigan are few and far between! I spent most of my life in Illinois, first in the Peoria area and then in the Chicago area before moving to Georgia in 2009. My husband, Brad, and I have a fifth grade son named Kyle. This summer we just added a new member to our family, a shih tzu puppy named Coco. We live in Alpharetta, and we love the climate and people of Georgia. In my spare time, I like to shop, go for walks, eat at Mexican and Italian restaurants, read books and magazines, and spend time with my family and friends.
I love teaching and being with children. Children naturally have a love of learning, and watching their faces light up as they learn new things is priceless. We are going to have a great year, and I look forward to working with the parents and children of Sweet Apple!
